Colortec's in-house design team can take your concept
from any stage to completion. In addition to great in-house
creative, we have strong relationships with photographers
and designers.
The following should answer most of the questions you'll
have about sending digital files to Colortec. If you

• 60” Hewlett Packard 5500 (6 colour photo quality printer)
• 63” Hewlett Packard 9000 Solvent Printer
• 54” Graphtec Plotter
• 54” Oyo Thermal Image Setter
• 62” Seal 62 Pro
General Artwork Instructions
We use both MAC and Windows operating systems.
- Please
include all font files, or convert fonts to curves
before sending the file over to us.
- Include
all linked and supporting files and hard copies
- Please
build all bleeds into files
- When
scaling down files, 25% or 50% works best. No less
than 25%.
- All
MAC files should be CMYK
Scans
- Please
supply scans
or
digital photos
at a minimum of 75 dpi at final size
(i.e.; a 50% size scan should be done at 150 dpi or
higher).
- Any
masking, close cropping or other effects should be
applied to the image(s) before sending them to Colortec.
- We
also accept transparencies for scanning.
File Formats
We accept files
created in Quark Express, Photoshop, Illustrator,
Indesign, and Coreldraw.
Sending Files to Colortec
Disks and other Media
We can accept files on CD ROM,
DVD
ROM,
or ZIP format, or
3.5" floppy disks. If you are sending disks or CD's,
please make sure they contain only the files you wish
to have printed by Colortec, and ensure that each file
is accompanied by a printed proof.
E-mail
Send compressed files using Stuff-it (Mac) or Win-Zip(PC)
up to 5 MB or less via e-mail to prepress@colortec.bc.ca.
Ensure that each file is accompanied by a .pdf or faxed
proof.
FTP to Colortec
To send files larger than 5 MB we offer FTP file uploading
to our Web FTP site. If you wish to take advantage of
this service, contact prepress@colortec.bc.ca
for instructions and an FTP password. We will be able
to provide you with any necessary information you need
as well as answer any additional questions. Ensure that
each file is accompanied by a .pdf or faxed proof.
